Choosing a therapist
I know how hard it is to feel stuck, and how scary it can be to wonder if you'll ever break free of the cycle. You want to change something, and yet it feels impossible. Maybe you're finally willing to take a risk and do something different, but you're not sure how to go about it. If you're ready to develop more meaning and freedom in your life, to feel happier and more satisfied, or just need that extra support to continue and find your right path you've come to the right place.
Cariad Health provides a confidential counselling service using evidence-based practice with person-centred and mindfulness-based therapies, offering insight and values for individuals and couples.
It is important you find the right fit in a therapist, and one size does not fit all. You should feel a warmth, a welcoming attitude and an earnest desire to see things from your perspective to help you achieve your goals.
It is important to feel comfortable with your counsellor, it would be a privilege if you chose Cariad Health. If not, I wish you the very best in your journey.
What happens at the 1st counselling session
Prior to the first meeting, We’ll first decide where we will meet. Either at the therapy room in Capalaba, Redlands, via telehealth or somewhere in the community that has sufficient privacy.
You may be feeling nervous for your first session and that is absolutely normal. Cariad Health will help you to overcome this so that you can work towards your goals. Our aim is to make sure you feel comfortable and know that any information shared is confidential.
There may be a small amount of intake paperwork to go through (if this has not been completed before the session) and we’ll have a brief discussion about rights and confidentiality.
If you have any questions or if there is something that you are wanting to discuss during the session – I invite you to bring it into session when you feel comfortable doing so.
Counselling will give you an opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings in confidence, to talk through your situation, focus on your needs and aspirations and to be heard and understood.
The aim is not to provide you with quick and easy answers, but to help guide you to find your own.
